The traditions and celebrations of my school

The point of the Project is to show the traditions and habits of a school, a country and a region which are taken care of in schools. Everything will be presented using modern ways of communication.

Our blog: http://thetraditionsofmyschool.blogspot.com/
TwinSpace: http://new-twinspace.etwinning.net/web/p27077

Aims of the project:
•Sharing interesting traditions, habits and school events,
•Presenting interesting figures and organisations, which are school patrons,
•Developing skills of attractive school presenting via electronic media,
•Using computers as an universal way to communicate ,
•Establishing cooperation with children and teachers from european countries,
•Creating and collective managing an internet page in the blog formula.
Each school taking part in the project has had its place on the mutual webpage. The schools have presented their uncommon, interesting traditions which distinguish them from the others. They have been connected with a school patron, an anthem, an outfit, habits, publications, recurrent events etc.
We have set up a voting for the most interesting initiative. The votes have been based mainly on the way of presenting the traditions: creativity, TI use, innovativeness, children involvment. But we have came to a conclusion that every traditions and ways of presenting them are great, show childrens' devotion to the schools and deserve distinction. We have decided not to choose a winner. Everyone has deserved for this title.

During the realisation of the project students presented their school and town to their colleagues from other countries, developed art talents and informatic skills. They expanded their knowledge about european schools and countries, they discovered their culture, habits and traditions. They developed their english language. They promoted their school and city presenting their advantages. They discovered daily and festive living of the matey countries' schools, they compared traditions and habits. There were geographic and historic workshops runned which approximated chosen countries and cities of Europe. Information technology was used during every stage of the project.

All the project's activities were planned collaboratively, teachers contacted each other systematically. Comments under presentations show great interest and devotion of every project's participant. We were exchanging information using e-mails, forum, blog and common space of TwinSpace. We mutually participated in 5th anniversary of eTwinning and we showed it in our blog.

We compiled multimedia presentations, slideshows, films, learned how to communicated via the Internet, we were writing a blog. Students were developing skills in searching and selecting informations searched in the Internet and other sources. They developed their skills in using lots of informatic and comunication technology tools: a computer, a scanner, a digital camera. They discovered programs and internet tools to make movies, slideshows, to paint and edit graphics, to upload presentations and documents online: PowerPoint, Word, Paint, FrontPage, IrfanView, Picassa, GoogleMap, Slide, RockYou, YouTube, PhotoSnack, Sketchfu, SlideShare, SlideBoom, Issuu, Scribd.Taking up the project, students ended e-learning courses which prepared them to use the Internet safely. Compiled materials were systematicaly uploaded on the project's webpage and virtual gallery.

Similar project can be effectuated in every school, there can participate small groups of interested students or whole school. We continue cooperation with some partners and we mutually lead next projects. Students loved creating presentations, writing a blog and graphic programs and we use those tools very often.
We all have beautiful and different traditions. They are all very interesting, mark out our schools and witness high level of the outposts. There are a lot of great events in all of the schools. We have shown our schools in the best possible way. We have shown that children are eager to be there and they feel great inside. Maybe some of us will "hoover up" a few events and will start to organise it on their own in their schools. For example I loved the way of school decoration in Bojnice and delightful regional traditions from Sevilla. I would like to use them in my school very much. Maybe it will work.

Results:
1. Establishing cooperation with 11 schools in 8 countries.
2. Presenting traditions, habits and school events.
3. Improvement of appreciation and toleration other european nations.
4. Students developed their knowledge about their own country as well as about the matey countries, they discovered their habits and traditions.
5. Mutual blog: http://thetraditionsofmyschool.blogspot.com
6. TwinSpace: http://new-twinspace.etwinning.net/web/p27077
7. Students developed their skills at using informatic and comunication technology tools, discovered programs and internet tolls to create movies, slideshows, to paint and graphic edition, to upload presentations and documents online.
