Bolesławiec - Poland

Our City Bolesławiec

Bolesławiec is one of the most beautiful cities of the Lower Silesia region. It lies in the south - western part of Poland. Bolesławiec is well-known for its ceramics pottery. The focal point of Boleslawiec is the Old Town, where you can find the City Hall and old tenements.

Our school

In Miejski Zespół Szkół nr 2 (The Union of Primary and Lower Secondary School) in Bolesławiec there are 710 students in 27 classes at the age from 6 to 16.

The patron of our school is Janusz Kusociński - great polish athlete, 10000 m olympic champion from Los Angelses, 1932. There are a lot of school events connected with him. They started on 8th December 1994, when the school was named.

1. Janusz Kusociński's Indoor Memorial.
It is an annual event which takes place every last Friday of November. Memorial competitions: 30 m hurdles, 30 metres, standing long jump, high jump, medicine ball shot, triple jump.

2. "Fit as Kusy" competition.
It is held on January every year, on the patron's birth anniversary. The participants are students from sixth classes. It combines knowledge and sport tests. The questions relate to the biography and sport success of Janusz Kusociński. There are also a lot of exciting sport contests. The event always brings a lot of fun and fair play rivalry.

3. The Cup of The First Day of Spring.
In the competition take part representatives from every class in the school. For a few years the School Director's Cup has been connected with the first day of spring holiday.

4. The exhibition of creativity.
The school's open day, when students have a possibility to show their talents and hobbies in every field. The participants are: students, teachers and parents. The event takes place in April.

5. School Sport's Day.
Sport competitions in a few chosen disciplines for every student from the school.

6. International cooperation.
Through internetional cooperation we share the Kusociński's motto: to proudly represent your country abroad. We collaborate and exchange students wit Czech and German schools. We also implement eTwinning projects.

7. Contests, exhibitions, radio broadcasts connected with Janusz Kusociński, the rivalry of the title of the best school's athlete.
We organise and participate in a lot of different contests. Their effects are: albums, comic books, art works, literary arts, exhibitions, presentations, the webpage. Students compete to win the title of the best athlete, the best graduate receives honorable title - School's Top Student.

8. Meetings with interesting people.
The patron's biography allows to form such universal values as ambition, bravery, obstinacy, assiduity, patriotism, honour and responsibility. We spread moral patterns through meetings with interesting people: athletes, artists, writers, politicians, veterans.

9. School's symbols.
Our symbols are connected with the patron: the emblem, the regimental colours, the outfit and the school's ceremonial.
